can you advise picture resolution please? am I being paranoid or does this camera lens seem a bit obvious i.e., overt rather than covert

Resolution: VGA (640 X 480 @ 25frame/second) The lens is a pinhole lens so you can hide the Cam and only a small hole is required for it to see through.

what is the normal range in meters for satisfactory recording under normal weather conditions...day and night?

Normal range really depends on lighting etc, however the units lens has no limit, basically the further away the camera sees the smaller things appear. These units have a great picture quality and 20 to 30mt away will still be quite clear and easy to make out what has been recorded.
